The present invention relates to a process for the production of a porous material, ceramic or glassy, starting from powder materials, preferably scrap materials. The alternative processes involve the steps of mixing a solvent, a gelling agent and a crosslinking agent to obtain a gelling solution, and adding to the solution a powder material and a leavening agent until obtaining a homogeneous mixture that is heated to a low temperature until to obtain a porous solid material.
